Inspired by the region's natural beauty, they also took time to learn about the diverse bird species native to Northern Ontario, discovering fascinating facts about the local wildlife. Their journey wasn't just about travel; it was also a creative expedition. Beka shared details about her latest project, "A Witch Named Agatha," a 2D animation designed for children but welcoming audiences of all ages. This whimsical series will feature episodes running approximately 5-10 minutes, promising magical adventures and valuable life lessons. BiographyRebeka Herron is a dynamic Mixed-Raced Latina filmmaker based in Sault Ste Marie. Her journey in the world of cinema began with her studies at Capilano University's Motion Picture Program, followed by impactful experiences at Women in the Director's Chair and the Producers' Lab at the Canadian Film Centre. Her dedication and talent have earned her memberships in prestigious industry organizations such as the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television, ACTRA Toronto, and the Canadian Media Producers Association (CMPA).
Recently, Rebeka has been making waves with her diverse portfolio of work. She directed the acclaimed short film "Chick-a-Duck," which premiered at Fringe North in 2023. Her writing talents shine through in segments for shows like "Anaana's Tent" Season 3 and "Tundra Friends" Season 1 on APTN, while her directing prowess is evident in segments of "Kuluk" Season 1 on NITV. Notably, Rebeka has navigated the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic by producing five feature films, including her directorial debut "Armchair Traveller" for Beacon TV. Her latest ambitious project, "A Witch Named Agatha," marks Rusty Halo Productions' venture into animation. This series promises to explore themes close to Rebeka's heart, featuring a mixed-race witch grappling with identity and belonging.
