An Open Discussion: Life in Child Welfare
This short video is produced by Indigenous Youth who have lived experience involved in the child welfare system. The short and powerful narrative describes some obstacles of youth in the child welfare system who have recently “aged out of care” and turned 18. The artwork is meant to educate the community in a peaceful way about youths’ experiences in the system, empower young people to use their voice, and encourage stakeholders, service providers, and the community at large to do better.
“An Open Discussion: Life in Child Welfare” is made in honour of our mothers.
Made with support from the BCWW team: Caceila Trahan, Jen Guise, and Kaylee Hodgson; with production by Care Smale; Host: Kaylee Hodgson; Guests: Jaylene Paul-Stone and Kenisha Flammand.
