Meet Our 2022 Festival Team

Katelyn Townsend
She/Her

Interim Artistic Producer

Katelyn joined the Fringe North team back in fall 2020. In her early years she helped organized several music and mixed arts events from back yard talent shows in elementary school to raise money for the local soup kitchen and hospital to touring to Elliott Lake with her band as a teenager. Katelyn also works as a Life Coach Practitioner and sees arts and culture as a vessel of healing for those who want to rebuild in life. ​Tova Arbus

Community Outreach

An active practitioner and voice within the Northern Ontario theatre/arts communities, Tova is committed to the vibrant creativity that is developed when engaging with diverse performers, practitioners, and audiences. Completing both a BFA cum laude (Laurentian University), and post-graduate studies in Public Relations and Event Management (Sault College), Tova has successfully merged her passions for creating amazing theatre & building community-engaged arts and culture events. She continues to be heavily involved in many local/regional productions and events. Tova is committed to prioritizing justice, equity, equality, diversity and inclusion in any and all work that she does. She believes in doing the necessary work to centre diverse voices, hold space for those who are fighting for equity and equality, and stand in solidarity with folks who are marginalized, criminalized and othered. A co-founder of Fringe North, Tova has held both Artistic Director (2016-2018), and Artistic Producer (2021) positions. ​

Nicole Dyble
They/Them

EDI Coordinator

Nicole Dyble is a community worker, arts promoter, and cook who has worked with Fringe North as Equity, Diversity, Inclusion coordinator since 2021. Nicole holds a diploma in Community Work from George Brown College and a degree in Community Economic and Social Development from Algoma University. They are former owner/operator of Gore Street Cafe and currently coordinate events under the moniker Dryer Fire. Nicole loves to see people come together through art and strives to contribute to creating accessible, inclusive, equitable, and sustainable spaces and events. ​

Mahimah Reancy
She/Her

Event Coordinator

Mahimah is an event coordinator and festival production team lead at Fringe North! She completed her undergraduate degree at McMaster University (Hamilton, Ontario). She co-founded a knitting and crocheting club in 2020 which fostered an open and safe environment where anyone can learn to craft and learn new patterns and techniques. Mahimah loves giving back to the community including many instances of facilitating (hand-made, knitted, crocheted) donations to various organizations such as shelters and hospitals. Although coming from a non-arts background, she loved supporting all the inspirational artists from Fringe North last year, to the best of her abilities!

Kristin DeAmorim
She/Her

Marketing Team Lead

Kristin is the lead on the marketing team for this year’s festival. This is her second summer with Fringe North! Kristin is originally from Sault Ste. Marie but is currently based in Toronto. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Performance Dance from Toronto Metropolitan University. Currently, Kristin dances professionally with a Toronto based contemporary dance company, as well as teaches and choreographs for her hometown dance studio in Sault Ste. Marie. Kristin is passionate about developing the arts scene in Northern Ontario and strives to provide an outlet for emerging artists.

Garrett M. Ryan
He/Him

Artist Relations & Communication

Garrett M. Ryan is a theatre maker and researcher hailing from Northeastern Ontario. As a theatre maker, his works have been produced in Canada, the United States, and Singapore. Currently, he is currently pursuing his Master's Degree in Theatre & Performance Studies at York University in Toronto, where he is researching applied theatre practices for aiding the development of youth in rural Northern Ontarian communities. As an experienced Fringer, Garrett brings his perspectives as a theatre maker to his role with Fringe North, with the goal of fostering a meaningful and stress-free space of artistic exploration for each and every participating team. ​

EDI & Indigenous Outreach Coordinator

Aanii everyone! My name's Cassandra and I am the EDI and Indigenous Outreach Coordinator at Fringe North! Within the festival I work with the EDI team to ensure safe artistic spaces within our Fringe community members. Along with EDI work, I work as an Indigenous outreach coordinator to forward the movement of Fringe North's reconcilliation processes. It has been great working with promoting these important relationship within the local community. Some of the things I love doing is hiking, exploring nature, listening to music and spending time with my family. Growing up in Sault Ste Marie, I've always enjoyed spending time at the local festivals and summer activities! I'm so excited to watch the festival this summer!

Volunteer Coordinator

I'm the Volunteer Coordinator and Team Support with Fringe North, it's a new role for me but I'm very excited to step into this role! I have loved the arts my whole life, and getting to work with the performing arts community is a dream come true!
