Marie, Ontario). That means that a $100 donation will get you 4 entries! Support Northern Arts
Fringe North is a not for profit organization. 100% of all ticket sales during the festival go to artists.
This means that we rely on your support to continue to bring you an amazing festival experience year after year and further build Northern arts experiences and programing for you to be able to enjoy year round. We need your help to allow our current initiatives to become a reality. Every penny counts.
Our overall goal is to raise $20,000 by December 31 2023. If you are interested in alternative ways to donate or sponsorship opportunities please head to the bottom of the page. We also accept e-transfers sent to [email protected]

Upcoming Initiatives:
Professional Development for Northern Artists
Arts education and ongoing learning is crucial to career building yet can be rare to come by in Northern Ontario. Fringe North is working towards building a professional development workshop weekend at the start of each season to help support artists and allow them to further their careers. Artists would be able to attend workshops on several themes related to professional growth such as marketing and branding, lighting and sound, tour creation, creative writing/storytelling, how to emerge as an artist, grant writing and more! Workshop themes may vary slightly year to year. Artists participating in that season’s festival would be invited to attend as part of their overall festival package and past artists and public would be invited to attend for a small accessible fee. The goal is to begin this initiative in Spring 2025 depending upon funding. Your donations help cover the costs of running the weekend, paying professional workshop leaders, travel cost for artists who reside out of town, etc. Fundraising goal: $10,000 |

Job Creation For Northern Artists
It is no secret to those familiar with the arts sector that there are simply not enough jobs available in the north. As Fringe North continues to grow our goal is to have 3 full-time year-round staff positions by the start of the 2024 festival season. Fringe North currently has two part-time year-round staff. In 2023 Fringe North also provided seasonal short-term contracts between May to August for 15 youth under 30. Additionally, we were able to offer two 2 weeklong contracts during the festival. Fringe North aims to provide heart centric care for artists and patrons. Being intentional about relationship building requires a strong team of individuals so that each can give the time and dedication towards providing a holistic experience for the community. Furthermore, we believe strongly in paying artists for their work. This means that whenever funding allows, we pay artists honorariums in addition to receiving 100% of their ticket sales. Your donations help cover the salaries associated with staff positions and short-term contracts (allowing us to provide livable wages and offer additional positions) and provide honorariums to artists participating in the festival. Since most available grant funding we apply to is project based (meaning it cannot fund salaries), this is our area of greatest need. Fundraising goal: $35,000 |

Annual Festival Expansion in Northern Ontario
Those who attended some of our largest shows in August 2023 will be the first to tell you that we are quickly outgrowing the venue space available at the Sault Ste. Marie Museum. Although we have every intention of continuing to work with this venue space and partnership, we are hoping to find a second venue soon that will allow for additional larger shows to take place as part of the annual Fringe North Festival. Our goal is to have this in place by the 2025 festival season. Your donations help cover venue rental costs, additional festival management present on site, sound and lighting equipment, pipe and drape, and anything else it takes to run an additional venue space. Fundraising goal: $20,000 |

Northern Ontario Youth Programming From our Emerging Artists in Residency Program to Stay & Play Kids Fringe content during our annual festival, Fringe North engages youth in many ways. Our Emerging Artist in Residency Program (EARP) gives youth (and other emerging artists) the opportunity to receive additional supports to help create and present their own unique content. We are working hard to increase the level of family friendly content present during our annual festival by creating a unique application stream for children’s content and providing staff run Stay & Play activities during festival days. This initiative is already underway and funding will help us to sustain these various youth related projects. Your donations help cover the costs of supplies for stay & play activities, artist honorariums for kids/family friendly content & EARP participants, access to equipment and training for our youth EARP participants, and staff hours to help run both the EARP program and stay & play activities during festival. Fundraising goal: $20,000 |

Unsure where to donate? You can donate to our general Tip-the-Fringe campaign as well. Funds gathered through the Tip-the-Fringe campaign help top off any areas needing funding.
100% of box office proceeds go towards paying the artists, so we rely on the support of your donations in order to keep coming back year after year. |
