Stage Location: 10 East St., The Art Gallery of Algoma
Show Time: August 23rd 8:30pm
What you should expect for this performanceIn the Tracks of the Black Bear celebrates the ACR short-line railroad and rail travel. The performer has a deep family connection to the ACR: their father worked on the railroad before and after WWII, uncles held positions at Hawk Junction, cousins worked the tracks, and two siblings were born in Hawk Junction. For the Fringe North Festival, the performer will debut seven new songs written specifically for this event. These original compositions will be complemented by traditional Americana railroad folk songs, familiar to many.
The performance will also include visual projections of film and still photographs, showcasing various sites of the ACR. Each song is designed to tell a unique story, accompanied by tales from the railroad, creating an immersive experience that blends music, storytelling, and visual elements. This show aims to honor the legacy of the ACR and the broader tradition of rail travel. |
BiographyBrian Tremblay is dedicated to preserving the stories of his generation and his parents' generation through his music. His influences are deeply rooted in early rock 'n' roll, but he was also surrounded by the music of his parents' peers while growing up. Family gatherings often featured traditional French folk songs played on guitars, fiddles, and spoons. Watching "Hee Haw" with his parents also left a lasting impact on him. These influences naturally surfaced in his songwriting, infusing his music with a rich blend of styles and traditions. Brian believes it is essential to understand and preserve our musical heritage and the stories that come with it.
